I love this. The Ultima series is still my favorite. I was like that myself, never hanging out with the ”cool” kids because I was too busy playing all these awesome games.
Cheers! This is a very nostalgic comic! I like the style, the colors and everything about it, really… And it makes me wanna play some of those old games again. Thank god for DOSbox and other emulators. 🙂

Thanks. Yeah, I played EOB2 a couple of years ago, it’s still a good game. Dosbox is great, and GoG as well. One day I’ll fire up U5 and finally finish it. I never managed to get to the end despite of playing it for years.

Rainbow Islands!!! Didn´t remember that one. What a feeling in that game. Thanks!

Nostalgic sentiments usually just piss me off when they’re computer-related, but I like this one a lot. I like how it focuses on personal history and experiences, with snowy winters and everything, and not just raves about specific games and technologies. It was the first time ever I encountered your work, but I’ll definitely look into more of it.

viznut: I know what you mean, I tried not to talk very much about the games. Besides, the feelings and situations are what I remember most fondly anyway.

Rainbow Islands comtains the vampire boss that’s my most hated video game boss ever. Totally unfair.

Thank you very much for this trip down memory lane! I also have to compliment you on the idea of describing the places and objects instead of focusing only on the games you used to love. If you hadn’t done that, I’d have had a much harder time trying to get into nostalgia mode, as I can only fondly relate to Monkey Island out of the games you depicted here.
But those flimsy white cardboard boxes filled with no-name disks (25mk for ten), the pojoing sound of X-Copy (which I still have as my SMS tone), those plastic disk filers with the smoked transparent covers (the hinges always broke on those) just struck me straight in the childhood. 😀
What really took me back was remembering those bike trips through my dark wintery home town, the snow and ice glistening in white street lamps, and a back pack full of fresh warez on my shoulders.. I also often stopped to reflect on the beauty of the moment back then. 🙂
So thanks again!
